Hi Bob,
This needs some correction/clarification.There are several people of the same name in close proximity so it is easy to confuse one with another, which I had done earlier with Thomas Rigg - Elizabeth Copin. The Thomas Rigg who married Elizabeth Copin was the son of Benjamin Rigg, not Charles Rigg.
Thomas Rigg, son of Charles Rigg appears to be the Thomas Rigg who married Polly Hobbs (Ohio Twp., Gallia Co., OH) in 1809.They were still there in 1812, but by 1816 (likely 1813) they were in Greenup Co., KY.Shortly thereafter Thomas bought land in Lawrence Co., OH and both he and his wife died by 1819.At that point, Charles Rigg was named administrator of the estate and guardian of the minor children in a process that took him to court almost 20 times in Lawrence Co., OH.
The Benjamin Rigg, mentioned above, was likely the brother of Charles Rigg. The account of the estate of Thomas Rigg (d. 1761, Charles Co., MD) lists 8 children, including Benjamin and Charles.See http://www.staff.sbc.edu/drigg/http://www.staff.sbc.edu/drigg/ for information on Thomas Rigg and his family.
There were at least two Moses Rigg(s) and at least two Zachariah Rigg(s).
Descendents of Benjamin, Charles, and Townley Rigg were in Wood Co., VA and migrated to Wabash/Edwards Co., IL as early as 1817.
I'd be glad to work together with you to sort out who is who.
