I am a descendant of Timothy's brother, Edward Riggs who along with Gideon Morris and family, (Gideon's wife was Jennet Riggs)settled in Jefferson County, what is now Hamblen County (made from Jefferson Co., Tn)County seat, Morristown was named for Gideon Morris, Jr., who donated the land . Gideon Morris, (do not know if it was Senior or Junior, was the bondsman for my great,great,great grandparents, Martin William Jones and Rhoda Hodges who married in 1804 in Jefferson Co., Tn. Rhoda's mother was a Riggs. Gideon Moris and wife, Jennett Riggs' daughter, Mary, married her cousin, Samuel Riggs, son of Edward Riggs. I posted some answers to William Baldwin earlier tonight.
I am having trouble with my back at the present, can't lift the boxes containing my 36 years of research, but, I will see what I have on Timothy Riggs. So many people had incorrectly listed Edward Riggs' son, Clisby Riggs as son of Timothy, but according to my records Timothy never went to Tennessee. He was in Rutherford County, N.C. for several years, holding several political offices until he moved to Kentucky where some of his children lived.
