The St. Charles (Illinois) Review, Sept. 12, 1879
Local Matters
Mrs. Wm. Riggs was riding up from Geneva, after dark, last Friday evening when her horse, in turning out to let a team pass, ran one wheel of the buggy off the embankment at the east side of the road and she was thrown out heavily, sustaining severe injuries, having an arm broken, and being otherwise bruised up. It was some time before help came, but when it did make its appearance she was promptly cared for, and, at the present writing, she is doing well.
