Who was the Sarah Gibson living in home of Wm M. Gibson in
Ouachita Co. Ark in 1860. Was she the daughter of Thomas? See below:
Thomas Gibson appears in the 1850 census and is married to a woman named Fanny. He has children, Sarah, Narcissa and Samuel. The family does not appear after that; however, there is a SARAH Gibson living in the household of William M. Riggs in 1860 and William is apparently in a 2nd marriage and his wife's name is Tannie (I think it's a transcription error by ancestry and is probably Fannie.)
I am trying to determine if this Sarah Gibson was the wife of David Jonathan Pursley. No marriage cert. can be found for him and in 1866 the Pursley family moves to Navarro Co., TX as do the Riggs family and some members of another Gibson family. In 1870 David Jonathan is married to a Sarah age 21 and he is 19. They have a son William Edward who is 4 mos old and born in Tx. Sarah dies in Feb 1875 when Wm is 5. Since the Riggs family & Sarah Gibson were in Oauchita County in 1860 IF they married in Ouacita Co I understand marriage records don't exist due to fire. David J. remarried in Nov of the year Sarah died and he married a daughter of subject Wm M. Riggs (Melissa)
No marriage record exists in Navarro or surrounding counties for a David J. Pursley.
Anyone having knowledge of Sarah Gibson please contact me.
Or if you have info on the marriages of Wm M. Riggs let me know. By the way in 1863 it appears Wm may have married a third time to a Mrs. M.M. Stallons. Can find NO record of any Stallons in Ark census records prior to 1900.
