I am looking for information on Joab Rigney born on 28 July 1796 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia and died 22 Apr 1877 in Casey County, Kentucky.
In doing research I keep getting conflicting information on Joab's mother. First in the Kentucky Death log I found a Joab Rigney died 22 Apr 1877 at the age of 81yrs (putting his year of birth at 1796), parents were listed as Jonathan and Polly Rigney.
I found some Pittsylvania County, Virginia Marriage records listing the following:
Marriage Date -------- Groom ------------- Bride
27 Jan 1788 ------- Rigney, John ------ Huffman, Catherine
20 Jan 1789 -------- Rigney, John ------ ?????????
I have found many places where it list a John Rigney who married a Catherine Hoffman(Huffman) as the parents of Joab Rigney. I also found places were it list a Jonathan Rigney married to a Polly Dyer as the parents of Joab Rigney.
Then I found a place listing the the John Rigney who married Catherine Huffman as a brother to Jonathan Rigney who married Polly Dyer and each of their families. Only here it list Joab as the son of Jonathan and Polly. My only issue with this is that John was born about 1768 and Jonathan about 1770. Has anyone seen a family that named their First child John and second child Jonathan? Just seems like something does not fit.
Can anyone out there please help me find a birth record of Joab Rigney born 28 July 1796 in Pittsylvania, Virginia? Also, does anyone have these people in their Genealogy who can shed some light on this issue.
