Josephine,

In tracing some of my own ancesters from Offaly, I did come across something that may be of interest. In 1818 a son named Patrick was born to a Patrick Dunne and Mary Rigney. The son Patrick went on to become a well know Catholic priest who was very instrumental in the immigation of the local Irish in Offaly to Australia in the late 1850's and 1860's. It's entirely possible that with his mothers maiden name being Rigney that they may have been some of those family members who made the journey to Australia. Perhaps Mary Rigney and your relative Stephen Rigney were related. You can type in Father Patrick Dunne on your search browser and get more information.
