Hi Ken,My line to John Rigsbee of Wake Co. is as follows:
Mother:Norma Mozelle Glenn md. Harvey Elvis Cooley
Grandmother: Mary Elizabeth Rigsbee md. Elisha Wilson Glenn
GGrandfather: John William Dawson Glenn md. Isabell Crabtree
GGGrandfather: Joseph (Temin) Rigsbee md. Nancy Jane Mayton
GGGrandfather: John Rigsbee md. Betsy Glenn (Not proven that this is the correct John)This John Rigsbee died in Wake County in 1848.The John Whitt Rigsbee you are referring to is also a son of John and Betsy Glenn.Willis Glenn was my GGGrandfather. He also married a Glenn, (Sally) who is the daughter of William and Susannah Woods Glenn. These families are all tangled up.The above Nancy Mayton is the daughter of Merris, Peggy, Margaret Rigsbee and Roland Young Mayton. The John who bought the land from your line, I believe, is too young to have bought the land.
There might be at least three lines of Rigsbee (Rigsby) Riggsbee, in the area that (Wake,Orange, now Durham, and Chatham Counties. There was one group who lived on the land that is now part of Duke University and up into Chaple Hill.Jesse Glenn seems to be the oldest I know of in that group.Another group which I have connected to is now Durham County, Oak Grove community. The other group were in Wake County.I believe that group to be of Frederick Rigsbee. The earliest of that group being Frederick who married Nancy Harrell in Wake County in 1780.What do you know about Luke Rigsbee?I have seen places that he was the earliest in this area but I have nothing further.I do have children for him, but I have never seen anything that could tie my line(s) to him.Let me hear from you again.Sandy in North Carolina.
