Ken,
Hi, I'm not sure if you remember me, you have helped me a few times with my William Rigsby hunt. (See message 584 and 585 )

I believe I have tracked down which William Rigsby he is, unfortunately the census info in itself is a mystery to you as well. Perhaps between the two of us we can figure it out.

This is what I have put together:
In your WWI Registrar information There is a William Rigsby Born 2/8/1896 registered in Walker CO. GA. My William Rigsby is on the 1920 Walker County GA census with his wife Willie Young and her father George Young and siblings. If the Registration for the draft was betweeb 1917 and 1919 I am 99% positive that this is my William. I also have a Marriage license for 7.3.1919 in Walker co GA for his marriage to Willie Young.

I next pulled up his DOB (going by the date on the WWI info) in the 1900 census annotated that you did and I found this....

1900 Census DeKalb County
p205a
T W Filts? household
wife Liney 50 1849-09 TN/TN/TN
snie Hattie Rigsby 25 1875-02 TN/TN/TN
sgnep Robert S Rigsby 7 1892-07 TN/TN/TN
sgnep William C Rigsby 4 1896-02 TN

The name is actually Fitts. He is in the 1880 census living next door to Melinda Rigsby and Callie household that you cannot place. see below for 1880 summation:

1880 Census Dekalb Co TN
p217b
[R14.10.6] John D Rigsby 50 TN/TN/TN
wife Mary A 45 TN/TN/NC
dau Isabella 10 TN
son James A 18 TN
son Rosie? 9 TN
[he dies before 1900]
[I don't see Rosie in 1900. Is he really a daughter?]

p203a
John D Walker household
oth [R14.10.6.5] John K Riggsby 19 TN/TN/TN
[I don't see him in 1900]

P195b
T.W.Fitts 53 TN/VA/TN
Wife Isabell 55 TN/TN/TN
Other J.N. single 32 TN/TN/TN
Other M.L. single 21 TN/TN/TN
Gdau Bell Winfree single 5 TN/TN/TN

p195b
Melinda Rigsby 30 TN/TN/TN (divorced)
sis Callie 20 TN
son (unnamed) 1m TN
oth J L Banks 4 TN/TN/TN
[Who was she married to?]
[Her sister Callie is also shown as Rigsby and married.]
[Who and where is Callie's husband?]

P195B
Golden Fitts 30 TN/TN/TN
Wife N.E. 28 TN/TN/TN
Dau M.F. 10
Dau C.D. 7
Son S.L. 5
Dau I.B. 2

I next checked the 1870 census because I believe that Melinda is the daughter of JOhn D, and Callie is the middle name of daughter Malissa C. Please see below

1870 Census Cannon Co TN

p208
[R14.10.6] John D Rigsby 40 TN
Mary 36 TN
Malinda 18 TN
Harriet S 13 TN
Malissa C 13 TN
John K 10 TN
James A 8 TN
Isabell 8/12 TN

I do have a few theories, but I don't have access to census images online.

The 1900 census for TW Fitts household shows Wife as Liney. Since the wife is Isabell in 1880 I am assuming she died and Liney (nickname for Melinda) married TW Fitts since they lived right next door to each other and would have known each other.

I would need some cencus on the Fitts in 1900 and maybe 1870.

My theory is that in order for Harriet to be a sniece and for TW fitts to have sgnephews and nieces he had to have had a stepsister who married a Rigsby that already had children. Or Liney's had stepbrother or sister in her line. It's very confusing.

I would really appreciate your help. Because I need to find out who William C b.2/1896 in that 1900 census is as I am sure he is my line.

Thanks, Terry Rigsby - Clark
