a Pickett researcher sends:

There is a Colonel Rigsby on the Board of Commissioners of the Indian Trade in
the Journals of the Commissioners of the Indian Trade: Sept 20, 1710 - August
29, 1718 (Colonial record of South Carolina). John Pight (Soundex=Pickett)
appears in the Journal, also.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY ROAD ORDERS 1732-1746 By Nathaniel Mason Pawlett

At its inception, Brunswick Co comprised a large part of the
Piedmont frontier east of the Blue Ridge and south of the James River.
In 1746 Lunenburg Co was created from Brunswick Co.

6 October 1733 OS, p42
Ordered that a road be cleared from Robert Humphris's into Burch's Road
along the Ridge between Sturgeon Run and Waqua and that John Wyrick
>William Reaves, Mason Bishop Samuel Crawley John Meritt and James
>Rigsby Assist Clem Read and his people in Clearing the Same.

Clement Read is appointed Surveyor of a Road from Waqua into the
Church Road and it is ordered that Richard Ramsey Mason Bishop
William Douglas Samuel Crawley, William Reaves, John Meritt,
Josias Randle & Rigsbey With their tyths assist. in Clearing the Same

Ordered that James Rigsby be Surveior of the Road in the room of
Josias Randle.

Notes for William Hawkins: He landed in Norfolk Co., but by 1637 he had bought land and
had a plantation along the New Poquoson River near James Cittie. He bought land adjoining
Peter Rigsby's plantation. Uncertain what records, if any, identified him to an earlier
researcher as a son of William Hawkins and Mary Halse.

James Rigsbee & Ruth his wife be sighted to make their appearance at the next court to Accept or
Refuse Administration of the Estate of the late John Morton deceased.

[There was a James Rigbey in Chatham Co on the 1790 census,
but I don't see him after that.]
