Riha Family Tree Chatham, Ontario, Canada Branch

Hi there,

I am looking for information about John (originally Jan?) Riha, born around 1905 in Bohemia, died 1990s in Canada, buried in St Anthony's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Chatham, Ontario. He married Agnes in the 1920s/30s and settled somewhere in Kent County, Ontario. They had 2 sons in the 1930s/40s.

It is assumed he immigrated after WWI, but before WWII. Although it's possible he immigrated before WWI. It is assumed that his original name was Jan, and that it was changed upon boarding a boat, and/or entering the US or Canada.

It is unknown if he was married before immigration to Canada. It has been assumed that Agnes was also from Bohemia. His eldest son was born in Kent County in the mid-1930s. The elder son was named John. The younger son followed some time later and was named Joseph (Josef?). The younger son apparently used to travel to Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic to see family... but I have never been able to confirm this.

Agnes passed away some time in the 1960s. Jan passed away in the mid-1990s. They are buried in the same plot, complete with individual photos on their headstone (I guess that's common?)

I am looking for anyone who knows of a(nother) Jan Riha... maybe it's a male relative who landed in the US but continued on to Canada?

I know nothing of his parents. I know not if there were any siblings to speak of... although it's assumed that there had to be.

Perhaps this information seems similar to someone? Anyone?

Thanks in advance for any and/or all information.

:) A(nother) Riha
