Train From Kentucky to Chickasaw Nation
The following information was received from my sister Fran and she got it from our Aunt Daisy.
"Early in 1905 or 06 at least fourty two familes mostly in Morgan and Magoffin Counties of eastern Kentucky sold their land, paced a few household items and personal goods, loaded into wagons, and went to the nearest train station. They chartered the entire train and went west to Ardmore in the Chicasaw nation of Indian Territory. Before they could leae, they had to cook up enought food to last their familes throught the long journey. It took a week for the rain to reach it destination in March of that year.......Several died in that first year, and during the second year many of the families scattered throughout Oklahoma."
Among the list of people "The Risner family"
