Hi Alice, I am Daniel Ristau's greatgreat grandaughter. I didn't know that he had been married twice. His eldest child with his wife Karoline Zinn; Jennie Ephrasine Ristau Dreger was my mother's paternal grandmother. I am not sure exactly when she immigrated, but I had always understood that she came over with a female cousin and didn't have other family here. She married a man from the same area of Prussia Gustav Dreger. They had 13 children their eldest son Robert was my maternal grandfather. He passed away in 2001 at the age of 94. I knew Jennie somewhat as a child she died in 1980 just a month shy of her 99th birthday, I was nine at the time. We did not live near her and she never learned to speak English terribly well, so I can't say we were close, but I do have a few memories of her. To my knowledge no one in the family was aware she had a half brother in the states, I could be wrong. There are only two or three of her children left, but my great aunt Ruth is kind of the family historian, she's over 90 now but still sharp as a tack. She would probably have more information if anyone would. Her last name is Dreger as she never married. By the way what is your relationship to Daniel Ristau? Are we cousins?
