A few of the facts that Anne Marie presented are incorrect. My grandfather, John Rizza, was never referred to as Giovanni since he spent his whole life in the USA. His brother and two sisters called him John. His father's name was Orazio and he came from Vittorio, Sicily which was the next town over from Ragusa. He married Rosa Schembari who lived in Ragusa. Orazio came to the US in the early 1900's and worked for a year to acquire enough money to return to Ragusa to marry Rosa and bring her to the US. John Rizza was born a few years later and was the first born of 4 children. He had one brother (Joseph) and two sisters (Marie and Janet). John married Helen Kafka and they had four children (John Jr., Joanne, Dianne and Paul). I am the daughter of Joanne and these facts have been passed down to me along with several pictures and documents of our lineage which my mother recovered from my great-grandmother's home in Ragusa, to which she traveled back in 1986. Please let me know if I can be of any more help! :)
