I was most interested in reading this posting on the forum. My grandfather is John Frederick Robar (at least one of them) and was born in 1853 (story has it he was born in Pennsylvania when his parents were visiting family). They later returned to Nova Scotia. He married Sarah (Sadie) Ann Taylor in Colorado in 1894 and they had 3 daughters, Alice, 1897, Grace, 1901 (both born in Cripple Creek, CO) and Edna, 1906 (born in Cle Elum, WA) I've requested my grandfather's death record from the state of WA (he is buried in Republic, WA, 1919) to try to learn his parent's names. I've a feeling his father was Valentine who married Catherine, as Alice Robar's middle name was Catherine (with the Alice having been the name of her maternal grandmother). We also believe he probably had a brother, James. If you wish to contact me, you may do so directly at my e-mail address. Thank you for all this information.
