Dear Jenny
I have had the folklore book for years and never read it! I did know a little about the Mauger history. They also travelled extensively through Russia and Mongolia in the nineteenth century.
My Great Great Uncle Alfred Robin also travelled to China and New Zealand. We are all great travellers even today. My Great Grandfather Captain Eugene Robin sailed tea clippers around the Horn to Valparaiso and San Franciso. Later, he was anchored off there at the time of the great earthquake.

With regard to your question, though, I haven't been able to find an Elizabeth Robin for those dates. I think that even though some of the women were strong people there is less detail on the female side. Did you know that there are Robin's from Jersey and that sometimes they did cross the water and marry Guernseymen?

Would you be interested to make direct e-mail contact? I don't know how we do that.
Maggie
