Y Chromosome DNA testing is now being used to aid in genealogy research. It is the most accurate method to determine ancestral line today. Family Tree DNA is a company that is doing a Robinette & variations of spelling surname study. Their website is <http://www.ftdna.com > You can take a look at results for various surnames. The Robinett study has two results posted. Others will be added as test results are complete. Are you a part of the Allen Robinett family? Maybe you descend from some other Robinet immigrant. Did your family immigrate from England or France or some other country. Participating in this study may help you answer some of these questions and put you in touch with others who are researching your line. The more participants, the better the results.
