Thanks Jill for your quick reply. I lost my first carefully composed response so I'll try again. I wish everyone would find a male family member and get in on the family name DNA studies at http://www.ftdna.com It is a great way to add to the trail and learn things about our ancesters. On this site this month I found a new cousin and we have exchanged information about our connecting family trees. I love this stuff! I still remember the day when I found my grandmothers name, Maggie Buchanan, on the microfilm of the census rolls at a time when she was still a teenager. I just sat there in the library archive with tears welling up in my eyes and touched the screen where her name was. A printout of that page was used as legal proof that she was born in the USA.
