Hello. My family is from Wilkes County, NC, Frederick County, MD, and perhaps PA since it is said that James Robinette was born there c. 1771. Now, most of our family is in Georgia specifically Shellman (SW), Swainsboro (SE) and Atlanta. There are stories, though, of a Robinett in America as early as 1620. If anyone knows Robinett/e history PRIOR to 1771 please contact me. I have also heard that Robinett is Scottish BUT OUR LINE was mistakenly named that by a man in England named Henderson who found a baby on his doorstep and thought he was a Scottish Robinett. I have also heard that he name Robinett comes from the combining of the sacred bird of England, the robin, and the French word for small, "ette". If anyone is related to me, please say hello! Does anyone agree with certain traits of your Robinett family? Ours are tall height and strong builds, deep brown or light blue eyes, long noses, musical, teaching, and carpentry talents, and great senses of humor. We are also known for our booming voices! Please post a reply if you have any opinions! Thanks!
