I am looking for my father's family. He is African-American and was born somewhere around Hope, Arkansas in 1922. Rodgers is his birth last name. He was adopted by his mother's aunt who was called Sis Slaughter and her husband who was called Doc Slaughter (a railroad worker). Both of his adoptive parents died around the late 1940's He moved to Des Moines, Iowa prior to their deaths where he married my mother, Juanita Cobb. He died on May 12, 1963 (Mother's Day) in a boating accident in Des Moines, Iowa. Known relatives are Frank Rodgers, Captoria LeGardye (Rodgers). Possible relatives are Willie E. Burnes, Sammy Slaughter, James Porter Slaughter.
