Hello Brenda,
I found out recently that "Fitz" in front of a name is a Norman symbal of nobility, sort of like "von" in front of a German name, or "van" in front of a Dutch name, etc.. But then again, I also found out the other day that "Fitz" means you descended from a Noble and his mistress instead of he and his rightful wife.Ha! Just my luck!
