Anthony Rogers - New Brunswick - Wisconson -Michigan

For those interested in the family of the Loyalist Anthony Rogers, I noted a series of entries in the 1850 census at:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cenfiles/wi/milwaukee/1850/lake/pg0410b.txt

headed:

Year: 1850 State: Wisconsin County: Milwaukee Sheet No: 413A Reel No: M432-1003 Division: Town of Lake Page No: 822 Enumerated on: 11th of July, 1850 by: Enoch Chase Transcribed by John F. Scheiding for USGenWeb, http://www.rootsweb.com/census/. Copyright: 2004

The household in question is:

11 |33 38 |Anthony Rogers |40 M |Farmer |England | |R262 |
12 |33 38 |Margaret Rogers |35 F | |England | |R262 |
13 |33 38 |Edward Rogers |8 M | |Canada East | |R262 |
14 |33 38 |John Rogers |6 M | |Canada East | |R262 |
15 |33 38 |Anthony Rogers |3 M | |Canada East | |R262 |
16 |33 38 |blank Sweet |70 M |Farmer |England | |S300 |
17 |33 38 |Norah Sweet |18 F | |Canada East | |S300 |
18 |33 38 |Benjamin Sweet |11 M | |Canada East | |S300 |

I cannot help but feel that this is Anthony Rogers (s/o Anthony, but not the Loyalist Anthony; at least another generation is needed there) b. New Brunswick ca. 1812, and d. Browntown, Manistee Co., MI 1MAR1888 age 76, who m. Mary (rather than Margaret) Sweet. The apparent in-laws seem to confirm this assumption. If true then none of these was b. 'England', but all such were b. New Brunswick (considered in the US to be part of England, but the English were of a different opinion.) Also, Canada East is misleading. At the time, Canada West and Canada East (in Canada, anyway) meant the lower portions of what are now the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. In this context it seems to mean what are generally referred to as the Maritimes (NB, NS, PEI and Newfoundland; especially the first two.)
So, if these people do interest you, do not expect to find much of interest in England or Quebec; but try New Brunswick first.

Thomas

By the way, I am interested in the family of Anthony Rogers of Iosco Co., Michigan (possibly the nephew of the above) and any of his wife's McKinnon relatives.

Thomas
