Judy,
I had just posted to you about the line of William Rogers and Chasey Jones of Hickman/ Humphrey's so please refer to this next posting, but I also wanted to tell you some additional info you may want as well.

We know that my WILLIAM L. ROGERS b. 1770 Montgomery Co.NC ; who d. 1842 in Carroll Co. TN was a neighbor to the WALKERS in Montgomery Co. NC during about 1800. I will also list the deeds of the WALKERS and our WILLIAM ( L. ) ROGERS and you see that William had a chaincarrier named WALKER on his deed. Also his father or grandfather is listed as JAMES ROGERS Senr. ( this could be his father JR. who had taken over the SENR. after his father Sr. had died about 1779 we think ). However, apparently there must be some kind of a WALKER connection if only as neighbors in Montgomery Co. NC ( but WALKER family was said to be CHAINCARRIERS due to their being SURVEYORS in that part of NC ). But later when our WILLIAM L. ROGERS moved from Montgomery Co. NC to CARROLL CO. TN in 1823, he squatted on land in Carroll Co. TN that belonged to a RADFORD WALKER of WILSON CO. TN. IN about 11 years ( 1834 ) WILLIAM L. ROGERS then had a deed for that land in Carroll Co. TN he had purchased from RADFORD WALKER of Wilson Co. TN.

So far we can't pin down if RADFORD WALKER of WILSON CO. TN is any kinship to the WALKERS in Montgomery Co. NC who were neighbors of William L. Rogers prior to 1823.

We also know that in CARROLL CO. TN are the COX and BRYANT or BRIANT families. I hesitate to quote the COX families info on BRIANT/ BRYANT for fear of getting this wrong, but I do recall that they may be NATIVE AMERICAN in that BRYANT family.

I have long suspected that the JOHN COX of CARROLL CO. TN who had been in NC prior to TN, and had wife named PURITY may be somehow connected to my ROGERS family. We know both the COX and ROGERS families married into the GREEN Families of Montgomery Co. NC who also moved to CARROLL CO. TN.

We later find that a WILLIAM COX bought the WILLIAM L. ROGERS lands after William L. Rogers heirs sold their portion of the estate. THIS WILLIAM COX, is I believe the grandson of JOHN COX and whether PURITY is his grandmother or step grandmother, I am not sure.

The name of PURITY is a given name in our ROGERS family used since about 1803 in Montgomery Co. NC through to their moves into CARROLL CO. TN, ILLINOIS, ARKANSAS and elsewhere. Even the collatoral lines of our ROGERS ( GREENS, etc. ) also named daughters PURITY for the PURITY ROGERS in their families.

Whether or not JOHN COX's wife ( 1st or 2nd wife ) named PURITY is one of our ROGERS females, I don't know, but have suspected she might Transcribed by : Tina Rogers Beller
