This is not my Rogers line, but this is what I have found online. I do not have a subscription to Footnote.com, but I was able to read the Civil War Muster (Quick Look) records for John W. Rogers, Co. I, 9th VA Cavalry, well enough to see that he enlisted in King George County. 1850 Virginia, King George County All born in VA Elizabeth Rogers, age 48 John Rogers, age 14 Henry Rogers, age 12 Charles Rogers, age 11 Ann Rogers, age 9 1860 Virginia, King George County All born in VA Nancy Clift, age 58 John W. Rogers, age 24 Charles W. Rogers, age 20 Ann M. Rogers, age 18 1860 Virginia, King George County All born in VA Madison Clift, age 35 Edmond Clift, age 65 Henry Rogers, age 22 Since the 1860 Nancy Clift is 10 years older than the 1850 Elizabeth Rogers, I have wondered if it could be the same person. It is not uncommon for a first name to be used in one census and a middle name in a different census. I could not find any information to support that Elizabeth might have remarried, so it might just be wild speculation. But there must be some connection between the Clift family and Rogers family. I hope this is somewhat helpful. It at least provides a good possibility that this is your John W. Rogers. Notify Administrator about this message?
