Sarah To try to answer your question. I do not know if I am a decendent of Humphery B Rogers I know he shows up in Tuscaloosa Co., AL in abt 1820 from SC that is the about the same time frame my family came from SC to Tuscaloosa Co., AL My great great grandfather is Coleman Rogers b. 1815 . On a Census he said he was born in TN??? His brothers and sister are born in SC and he states his father was from SC. Some of the Names are similar such as Richard, John , William . ect. My grandfathers name was Wiley Richard Rodgers b.1849 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL I had a DNA done and I show up as a I1 group. Has anyone in male line had DNA done.? On Ann Adams only thing I have is she was supposed to have been born in VA and Her fathers name was supposed to be William Adams. but I have not proved that part. I have been working on a Robert Rodgers who was of the Age to have been the father of my group. Born abt 1773 in SC he is with my group all living close to each other in 1840 and 1850. Robert disappears after 1850 so he must have died after 1850 . I know that another researcher had a Thomas as the father of my group. However I think they made the mistake I almost did. There was a Thomas listed and it showed a older aged person listed in 1840 and assumed he was Thomas . However in 1850 I discovered There was a Thomas but was much younger. and Living next door was a Robert who would have been 10 year older after close scrutney Robert was the head of the Clan. I asked the other three researcher what information they had to back there case , no one would ever answer me. So I had to assume they had no evidence . Mine is circumstancial evidence they leans to Robert. I have 9 Humphery Rogers in my data bank. 5 of them have a middle inital of B makes it easy ? Is it not fun trying to reconstruct history? I have been working in this Rogers line for 40 years. It took me 28 to find my grandfather. Dad was raised in an Orphans home so it made it real easy .. Ha Ha. He He Ho Ho ect. Persistance paid off. Even though dads half sister fed him lies about his father. Such as he died before dad was born and he was named after his father. Could not remember anything. But I finaly dug it out. Keep in touch. Who knows we might be related some how. There was a bunch of rogers who came from SC into AL and GA an MS About the time they were opening up the indian lands to settling. Glad to help any way I can.
