Hi,
Everything looks good.I have a religious book that belonged to Carl Roggemann. The spelling on the front of the book is Karl Roggemann and it is some sort of prayer book by Martin Luther King in German (I don't read). It also contains some Mitglieds-Karte of a St. Jacobi-Gemeinde cards in the inside pocket fold from Chicago, IL.Sometimes the card reads the spelling of his name as Carl Roggemann, Carl Roggeman and Karl Roggemann.Interesting.My mother said she remembers her grandfather, Carl, and that he spoke German fluently.Carl's younger brother, Henry, was a vice president of International Harvester.
The marriage license or certificate of Carl Roggemann and Selma Erdmann is pretty big.LIke around an 20x14 or somewheres around that.It is hard to read the old Germanic type print as it is so fancy, but something about Lislz (sp?), Meklenberg, Leh____ someplace Schwerin. There are two dates on the paperwork; one says 8 Dec. 1906 and the other says 1908.I am lost on this. There is a Karl Metzger and maybe a Chelich Verbunden.I do not know these names.Karl Schmidt, Pastor, Ev. Luth. is named too.
My mother says that during WWI and WWII, they used the name "Rogers" quite often instead of Roggemann because of anti Germanic feelings in the US at that time, although the name was never changed officially. She also said that dropping the last N was just Americanizing the name somewhat.
I belong to Ancestry.com where I have pretty much compiled a family history tree if you want to view it there.Just type in one of those names under family search and it should take you there where youcan recheck the dates if there is a problem.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any additional information.
