George Rohde, immigrated to NYC in late 1850's

I'm trying to track down information on George Rohde, who immigrated to NY probably in the late 1850's. He was born in 1831 in Hannover, Prussia, and settled on Barren Island in the Jamaica Bay area of Long Island. He married Catharine Schmeelk, whom he met on the trip from Germany, and their first child was born in New York in 1861. In the 1870 census, he was listed as a fisherman. Later, he became a pilot, bringing ships in and out of Jamaica Bay. It appears that he died sometime between 1876 and 1880. George and Catharine had seven kids: Henry William, Anne Marie, Rebecca Margaritha, George Christopher, John, Catharine, and Andrew. Does anybody out there have any more information on this family?
