Here is what I found on Emil:

Chicago Tribune (IL)

Edition: Chicago Tribune

Emil Rohde, authority on hair dressing and cosmetology, died yesterday in his home at 5444 Kenmore avenue. He was 65 years old. He was head of the E. Rohde Beauty salon in the Edgewater Beach hotel.

Mr. Rohde was a past president of the National and Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists, and also a past president of the Chicago and Illinois Hairdressers' association. He was particularly recognized for his work with hair dyes. He once traced the art of hair dyeing beck to the ancient Romans, whose dark haired women sought to emulate golden haired Nordics.

Mr. Rohde was born in Germany, came to Chicago in 1906, became a citizen on 1912 and entered business on the north side. He was a charter member of the Uptown Kiwanis club, and later president of the North Shore Kiwanis club. His widow, Therese; a son, Ensign Carl Rohde, U. S. N., and two daughters, Mrs. Helen Rolston and Mrs. Eleanore Lindberg, survive. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at 5501 North Ashland avenue.
