Missouri and Johann and/or Claus Detlev Rohde

Hopefully, someone will have information, or a tip on where to look. Johann and his brother, Claus Detlev Rohde came to America about 1866. According to a letter that Claus Detlev sent back to relatives in Germany, Johann drowned in a river, in Missouri, on 5/31/1868. Perhaps, the Missouri River? Claus Detlev's family has finally been found in Kansas, where he moved after Johann's death. I'd love to find any information possible on Johann or Claus Detlev during their time in Missouri. Did Johann marry? Have children? Johann was born in Nindorf-bei-Meldorf, Suederdithmarschen, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, on April 23, 1842. He and Claus Detlev were from a larger family.
