It is wonderful that you are interested at a younger age and have the opportunity to ask your grandparents lots of question. Ask your grandfather who his parents were so you have more to work with. My Rohdes came from Mecklenburg, Germany. I searched for over ten years to find out where they were from and just found them on a ship's list recently. I then found a distant relative on the internet who filled in alot more info. Find out dates on everything and read up on tracing your genealogy. Ask your grandfather when his parents died and if he knows where they were born and if they are the ones you came here from Germany. Search newspapers to find obituaries. Sometimes they contain a wealth of information. Good Luck and don't give up if you hit a road block, I have found you can get through sooner or later.
