My records show that John Janszen Roll married Elizabeth Sickles and migrated to Springfield, New Jersy in 1742 after 5 of their children were born. The sixth child was born in New Jersey. They were the first to settle here and lived on the side of the First Mountain, about a mile from Springfield on the Old Stage Route from Elizabeth to Turkey (now Providence). John and Elizabeth are buried in the burying ground of the Long Hill Chapel.
John Janszen Roll was the 3rd son of Johannes Pieter Roll and Jannietje Duchene. Johannes Pieter Roll was the 3rd child of Jan Mangelese and Volkie Janse. Volkie Janse was the grand-daughter of Caniachkoo, Sachem of the third Castle of the Mohawk Nation. Her parents were Pieter Adriaensen van Woggelum and the daughter of Caniachkoo known only as the wife of Pieter.
