(3) UNKNOWN DUVALL; m. (4) OSCAR WILLIAM STORMS, Unknown; b. August 1891; d. Unknown; m. (5) ERNEST STORMS, Unknown; b. Unknown; d. August 1958.

Notes for ANNA MAE CARTER:
Prior to marrying Oscar, Anna apparently had 3 childre: Annabelle (father Edward Capel), Lawrence (father Howell), and Mary (father Duvall). She married Oscar and had Kathryn (Kitty), Julian, and William. William married Dorothy Haley and had 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Kitty married and had one son, Russel.

It seems that when Julian was about 4 or 5, Anna left Oscar (or vice versa). She and her children moved to the Carter family farm in Nottingham, PA (site is near Herr Potato Chip factory). Kathryn's recollection is that, for a short time, the family was taken care of by Walter, Oscar's brother, and then Ernest (also Oscar's brother "took over" - he was about 17 or 18 years old at the time. Anna and Ernest were married June 1, 1953.

Info is taken from family knowledge.

Notes from Rick Carter's conversation with Annabelle:

In the very early 30's the family moved first to Springfield, Delaware County,PA, then to the farm in Nottingham, Chester County, PA.

RE: greatgrandmother, Mary Harris. Apparently, Mary's mother died when she was quite young and her father, being unable to care for her, sent her to live with a family named Littleton. There, she was apparently little more than an indentured servant. She was made to do housework and was never sent to school. She was never taught to read or write. My parents tell me that my grandmother, Edith, cosigned checks and forms for her late in life. She would simply make an X.

Notes for OSCAR WILLIAM STORMS:
Oscar left his family around 1928 - disappeared. Family cared for at first by his brother, Walter, and then by his brother, Ernest. Rumored to be buried in NJ. Believed to have died during 1950s.

Known to be 31 in March of 1922 (per Kathryn Melrath's birth certif)

Notes on how Oscar's birthdate was located:

According to Betty Storms (wife of Julian) who attended the funeral of Ernest (Oscar's brother), there were Storms relatives at the funeral who had come from Ohio. According to Kathryn Storms, she knew of the following siblings: Walter, Edgar, Ernest, and Edna. A search of the Soc. Sec. Death Index revealed an Edgar P. Storms who died in Ohio but whose SS number was issued in NJ. Birth date given fell within the 'right' range, so I sent to the SS Dept. to obtain a copy of Edgar's SS application. The application revealed info on Edgar's parents (John W. & Mary E. Allen Storms). I then requested info from one Evelyn Huey via the internet; E. Huey owns CDs which contain census data from NJ. E. Huey found a listing for John Storms and family, as follows:

"I found John at 415 (no name for street) Woodbury, age 51 - no wife
with the following children: George R (26); Edna M. (25); Viola (20); John W. (16); Edgar P. (16) and Ernest A. (6)"

I then requested E. Huey check the 1900 census for the same family and she found the following listing:

"...found him in 1900 living at 332 Glover St. Woodbury - -
John W. age 31, born July 1868
Mary E - 27 - Apr. 1873
Oscar - 8 - Aug.1891
George - 6 - July 1893
Edna M - 4 - Dec. 1895
Viola M - 11/12 - July 1899"

Possible that George is George Walter, the Walter of which Kathryn spoke?
