I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond - actually, it's taken me this long to read your post -

many thanks! My father-in-law is 83, and knows only bits and pieces of the Romero history. It's interesting that you bring up Jewish dna because he says that someone was Jewish but he thought it was his grandfather and was told that they came over on a boat from Italy. I'm thinking maybe there's some truth now, only much farther back. His mother was Inez Romero, b about 1900+ to David.
