Page 14. 5 br. 1652 Deposition of Thomas Cutler, aged 25 years or thereabouts sworn and sayeth that Michail Heiward told ELIZA. ROOKINGS that if he, Michael Heiward, died in this country she would be the better of what he had.
Page 14. 3 9'br, 1652. Deposition of Stephen Yates, aged 46 or thereabouts, that Michael Heiward and the deponent were by the garden pales, deponent being bound for the...in Mr. Janney's vessel, and took his leave of the said Heiward, who answered him, Well, Friend, I shall never see thee more, for here I shall leave my Yorkshire heels."Your deponent answered....does as I have done, give what thou hast to...meaning ELIZA ROOKINGS. He replied that he would not give her but half, the other half to put him into the ground....these words were said about a fortnight before the sd. Heiward dyed... Robt. This, Elizabeth Rookings, I believe to be the first wife of Henry Randolph. Her sister, Joane/Jane, I believe to have married Richard Atkins/Adkins, Jr.
