Zachariah Rooks and his tie with Fredrick
Fredrick Rooks relocated his family from Jefferson County Georgia over to Irwin in 1836.He and his wife, Lydia Baily Rooks had three boys, four girls, and later added one of Lydia's Nephews or perhaps brothers to the family.
Another Rooks by the name of Zachariah was moving his family down to Baker County. He with his family apparently dropped in on Fred and his family in Irwin sometime in the early to mid 1840s'.Now Zach and his wife Martha Mcdugill Rooks had a couple of boys but they were young and Zach would need some help clearing land and such at their new home in Baker.
The solution.....? Well as best as can be figured Fred had the answer. Isaac, Fred's oldest boy was either courting or freshly married to one of the Sumner girls. Asa, the second was more than capable of handling his fair share of the workload around the home place so James the third son would go down and give Zach a hand.
The 1850 censuses reflects James absent from the Rooks family in Irwin and present down in Baker County living with Zachariah and his family.
NOW.............This brings the question to bare....?
What was Zachariah to Fredrick? Were they brothers, ...Cousins, ....or what?
Need a little help from someone out there that knows more about this than I do.I am CHARLES ALVIN ROOKS, e-mail [email protected] need your help
Thanks and Look forward to exchanging information with you.
