This obituary came to me on a back of recycled paper fr/Washington Co. Hist. Soc. They have a terrific collection of material and are quite generous with their time and resources so please, contact them if this is your relative and ask what else they have on the family. Abrief recap of obit: Charles W ROPER was b. London, England Oct 12, 1851 and died Oct 10, 1928 at the home of his son, Fred. Mr. ROPER came to U.S. w/his parents when he was 6 months old and lived in Garden Prairie, IL. Came to KS 1878. Married Orpha GNAGY 1880; she preceded him in death in 1916. They had 5 children, all survived Mr. ROPER. Walter lived in Hudson, CO. Fred lived in Wray, CO. Frank lived in Topeka, KS. Mrs. Scott GREENE and Charles ROPER lived in Greenleaf, KS. Mr. ROPER had 3 brothers still alive at the time of his death + 1 sister. Walter R of Garden Prairie, IL, Fred R and Mrs. HATTEN of Barnes, and Reuban R, formerly of Greenleaf. His remains were brought to Greenleaf and interred at Mt. James Cem.
