Douay was a principal location for the education for English priests when Catholocism was unlawful in England. The ROPER family had a singular role in the sustainment of English Catholocism from the beginning of the English Protestant Reformation in 1535 through the 1700s.

This is an interesting place for a ROPER to be born.

Are you certain that she was BORN there? Or is it possible that she was being educated at a convent there?
