I was looking at the plat map of Blanchard Township in Hardin Co., OH which can be seen at:
http://www.kenton.com/users/chuck/blanchrd.htm The interesting thing is to look at the names of the people who married the children of Jackson Ropp and Mary Ann (Dardinger) Ropp. Assuming the 31 acre plat labeled Mary Ropp is Jackson's wife, we see that Edith Wickwire's property abuts theirs and within a close distance are properties with the names of McElree=McElroy? and Spearman. Whether these future spouses lived on these properties or not, they probably visited relatives and could have met the Ropps. This just goes to show the importance of searching out such plat maps where they exist. They can often give important leads.
BTW, the Dardinger family lived in the general area too, though it's not on this map.
