Hi
I am not related but my mother who is a British war bride married a Canadian soldier during WW11 and knew a Gaylord C. Ropp who was in the American Air Force and stationed in England. Would this be your grandfather? He was a few years older than my Mom who was born in 1923. He wrote to her during the war and she remembers his stationary was engraved, quite impressive for wartime. She always wondered what happened to him during and after the war.
Dianne in Canada
