This message may be a bit late but I just saw your question. There is a large family of "von der Ropp" in Germany. A great-great-great uncle of mine was married to a Lucia Lotarovna von der Ropp (translated from Russian: Lucia-daughter of Lothar von der Ropp. I found a Baron von der Ropp- the title meaning this was a high ranking noble family. OK, I hope this helps you somewhat. Sorry, but I don't know about who came to the US or when. Any other questions, write.
