Rosentreters in General

Well, it is refreshing that someone on the web has finally given
a forum to discuss this obscure surname. I know that my family
has been investigating my lineage since I can remember, just be-
cause we're so obscure. There must only be about 20 or so
Rosentreter families with direct roots to their immigrant an-
cestors. Mine is based out of Michigan and we have branched out
all over America since; many of us favoring warmer climes than
our ancestors, of course. Much of my family live in either
Florida, Texas, Arizona or California, nowadays. I'm in Austin,
TX, my sister is in Jacksonville, and my mother is in San Diego.
My father's brother is in North Carolina and he lived the major-
ity of his adulthood in Texas, as well.

So, it's been a long road to today.

For all those interested, my Rosentreter lineage began in Vol-
hynia, Poland/Russia in ~1890. My paternal great-grandfather
was born Gustav Rosentreter and emigrated to the US in the years
preceding WW1. His wife's name escapes me but if I could find
his lineage somewhere I could say for sure. I'm sure it was
Elsie or Elsa, something like that. He came first to Kenosha,
WI, then to Chicago then to Berrien County, MI in the 20's.

They had six children: Two boys, Adolph and Herman, and four
daughters. My father's father was Adolph, who recently died.
Adolph and my grandmother Theresa Muehl had two sons, my father
Clifford and his brother Donald. I have one sister, Cheryl Ros-
entreter DeWitte and I am 32 years old.

If you know anything about the Gustav Rosentreter lineage who
went via Poland/Wisconsin/S.W. Michigan, please give me a line
at my e-mail address.

Ross Rosentreter
