Thanks for the followup. Just yesterday I was looking at your earlier posting and wondering if you had ever read my response to the Ronald Roshon query.
I have the following information that may reveal a connection. The names and relationships are too coincidental, to not be informative in one way or another. Please contact me directly at
chief@roshong.org to continue this investigation. I try to maintain close contact with the Ohio "R"'s and am anxious to correct, verify and add data to my Family Tree.

There is but one church in Basil---the Trinity Reformed. 1845, Peter Roshon,
Israel Roshon, John Urbin, Jacob Giesy, and George W. Tussing helped eight
members of the St. Pauls Congregation to form the Trinity Reformed
Congregation in Basil.
It was organized in 1844. The first male members of Trinity Church were
Henry Leonard, Joseph Alt, Jacob Giesy, Peter Roshon, John Urben,
John Doomy, Joseph Carminy, Peter Caley, Nicholas G. Messerley,
John Leonard, George W. Tussing, Henry Switzer, and John Goss.

Liberty Encampment. No. 169, I. 0. 0. F., of Baltimore, was
organized July 14th 1873. The charter members were: Jonas
Meserly, J. J. Hausberger, A. L. Gearhart, Daniel Langle, V. H.
Ginder, J. W. Whiteley, Samuel Rader, Daniel Olinger, W. P. Littlejohn,
Josephus Norris, F. G. Littlejohn, W. H. Oliver, John Javoi, T. I.
Arnold, Peter Roshon, J.W. Chapman, R. S. Broch, S. S. Weist,
Frederick Born, William Cook. The lodge does not hold any
regular meetings at this date

Served in Civil War Doniphan Company under Capt. Ben Davis.
Appears John was married to a Catherine Sauder when he was 34 years old
according to the 1850 Pennsylvania census. John may have enlisted as a
substitute for another soldier in a Capt. Ben Davis' company during the
Mexican American War. He did not serve over 90 days before the war ended.
John was not using the "G" suffix when he came to OH after 1849.

According to the 1860 Census, John was living in the household of his brother Samuel Jr. at that time.
