Thank you so much for your replay! An explanation is due you as you have so much information..perhaps even what I can send. In my research, I focused very closely on my Liles/Lyles/Lill/Lysle family of Chowan guided by a book by Parker which was a compilation of records and history from many people regarding the family. Henry Lysles was from Nansemond Co., VA, though I have not found evidence of property there. However he was closely associated with those from Nansemond Co. in his dealings in Chowan Co., NC, which began in 1692. The Liles moved from Chowan Co., NC to Johnston Co., NC in that part which became Wake Co., securing property adj. a Lewis Jones...from Chowan?...
Henry Lysle , Sr. was suppose to have been married to a Jean/Jane Jones, daughter of William Jones of Maryland. There was a William Liles of Calvert Co.,MD, but after much writing with that family's researcher, nothing could be matched..the timeframes or names, locations and etc. So I began to believe this a false lead.
Recently a researcher for Jones in Edgecombe and Wake Co., NC, advised me that her family believes William Jones, will of 1722, Chowan Co.NC, is part of the Matthew Jones of Mulberry Point line of Warwick and Nansemond Co., VA. This William had a son Henry whom they believe to be Henry Jones of Northampton Co., NC. That researcher had found the patent for land in Nansemond Co., VA, which referred to the rich thickett in Virgina which was described in his will.
William Jones had two wills filed in Chowan Co., NC as did others. His earliest will was January 9, 1722, April 4, 1723
Sons John and Henry, William Liles. Son Chas. Jones, Wm. Liles, grand-son William, son of Thomas Jones, daughter Jane Liles, Henry Liles, Sr., Henry Liles, Jr., grand-son William, son of Jane Liles, daughter Dorothy Liles. William Lewse, son of Elizabeth Spiers, William Jones, son of Henry, Wm. Walston, son of Dorothy Walston, William Jones, son of John. Test, Thamer Howcott, Hannah Luten, Thos. Luten, Jr.
His other will was May 4, 1722, Probated March 28, 1723m son John Jones, his sons John and James Jones, his sons David and William, son Henry, William Lyles 100 acres land known as Walston old field , son Charles 100 acres known as Branch's old field, daughter Jean Liles, daughter Elizabeth Spiers, daughter Dorothy Walston, Thoms Luten Jr., Executor.
These appear to be the same people, but there is a more detailed one which wasn't handy. ..mentioning the thickett in question.
I shall quit for now and look forward to hearing from you. Arlina
