I am looking for some Roessings who immigrated from Hamburg, Germany in the late 1880's and settled near some relations in or near Dubuque Township-Fort Dodge Iowa or the Rock Island area of Illinois. Was told that my great-grandmother Martha and a sister immigrated with their parents to join two older son's who had set up a business in or near Fort Dodge. The only other information is that Martha was born in the 1870's and died in 1955 in Washington D.C., having come here with her husband William McCaffrey around the turn of the last century. William was born and raised in Dubuque Township, Iowa and had been in the U.S. Army at Rock Island. I know that he and my great-grandmother lived in Fort Dodge prior to moving to Washington D.C. Anyone out there know anything, my great-grandmother had told my Aunt that her father and mother ran a candy/confectionary shop in Hamburg. I have only replied to the Otto Roessing because the name was the same spelling as my families name of Roessing
