William Roughley
I am trying to trace details of relatives of William Roughley (my great grandfather) born in Pendlebury Greater Manchester who enlisted into the 15th Bn The Lancashire Fusiliers (1st Salford Bn The Salford Pals) and died in the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 2001 leaving behind 3 sons (John, my grandfather, Dick and Harry) all now sadly passed away. William is remenbered on the memorial to the missing at Thiepval and my son and I will be visiting The Somme in October 2001. I would like anyone who believes they could be related to get in touch. My grandfahher Jack moved to Denton with my grandmother Florence (nee Coppack), whilst Harry who married Laura continied to live in Pendlebury. In his later years Dick, married to Sue, became the marsh warden at Gronant North Wales.
