I am researching my mother's side of the family and would be interested to find out the geographical origin of the name ROUND. I did hear that it originated in Essex in Anglo-Saxon times, but I don't know how reliable my source of information was. (There seems to be a fair number of Rounds in the present West Midlands area or thereabouts, so perhaps the name originated from that part of the country?) Can anyone enlighten me?
