I have a fairly exhaustive genealogy for your Rebecca Marticia Rountree, if you want to contact me offline.
She was one of 18 known children of Seaborn Jones Rountree. The Gray name is explained by Seaborn's first wife, who was Sarah Gray, daughter of Isaac Gray of Laurens District, SC.She bore the first eleven children, including his eldest son William Gray Rountree (named for his grandfather and his mother's maiden name).Adeline Flippen, the second wife, died within a year or so of the 1832 marriage, and in 1834 Seaborn married Elizabeth B. Rogers, daughter of William Rogers of Madison County, Alabama.Elizabeth Rogers produced seven children, the eldest of whom was Rebecca Marticia.
I am descended from Rebecca's sister, Sarah Gray Rountree. Her name was "Sarah" not "Susan".
Seaborn was one of five known children of William Rountree, one of the most interesting characters I've ever run across in genealogy. He was variously a tavern keeper and planter, a justice in both Tennessee and Alabama, accused of murder in South Carolina, and the recipient of one of the first divorces ever granted by the Alabama legislature.
William was the son of Richardson Rountree and grandson of William Rountree of New Kent, Hanover, and Goochland counties, Virginia.
Contact me offline and I will gladly send you a lengthy research report on this genealogy.
