"Sandford Beck" is listed in Dawes Commission Index, 1896, Case Number 732.I know he died in 1871.This was filed by his grandson Gabe Sanford Beck.My understanding is he was a sheriff in OK around that time.1 Affidavit claims Sanford Beck was from Georgia. and he was 1/4 Cherokee. Another claims "he meet Manly Beck father of Gabe S. Beck in the year of 1868 or 1869 and Manly Beck and his family was considerd by the citizens of McKinney Texas to Cherokee by blood"Affidavit from ex governor of Texas states he knew Sanford Beck to be "originally from Georgia".I only have 10 pages of application and they are hard to read.I understand there are other pages.Might be worth a trip to Fort Worth to see the rest.My understanding, application denied because Sanford Beck was not listed in the Cherokee rolls.Of course by the time the rolls were gathered our boy was out west. This Cherokee thing could have been from Matilda's side also.Who knows.I would like a copy of the photo of Matilda if possible.
