Thanks so much for the information. Keeling's name only appeared once in the militia records. That was in 1815 when he was listed as having failed to appear for a required muster. The sheriff, who was responsible for going out in search of the "no-shows," made a margin notation next to Keeling's name, "Removed." In other words, he had moved away. In these records Keeling's last name was spelled "Roe" but the militia clerk was only marginally literate and was sometimes quite creative in his spelling. There were a number of Rows and Rowes also listed in the records. These included Horace T., James, James P., Jesse, John, John G., and Perry.
