Rosanna ROE Mosher (1764-1848)
I am trying to identify the parents of my 5th great-grandmother Rosanna ROE Mosher. Rosanna was born in New York in 1764. She married Cornelius Mosher in Dutchess Co., New York in 1782. Rosanna died in Columbia Twp., Bradford Co., Pennsylvania in 1848.
Cornelius Mosher was born in Nobletown, Dutchess Co., New York in 1760. He was the son of Hugh Mosher and Sarah DAVOL. Cornelius died in Columbia Twp., Bradford Co., Pennsylvania in 1825.
Rosanna and Cornelius had a family of nine children, viz: Hugh, Samuel, Ruamy, Nicholas, Christopher, Hannah, Lemuel, William, and Julia. The older children were born in Nobletown, Dutchess Co., New York, and the younger children were born in Coeymans, Albany Co., New York.
1790 - I have not been able to locate the household of Cornelius Mosher in the 1790 census record.
1800 – Cornelius and Rosanna are enumerated in Coeymans, Albany Co., New York. Residing next door to Cornelius are Joshua Row, Basell [Basil?] Row, and Samuel Row. A few households away are John Row and Nathan Row. All of the Row males are 26-45 years of age in 1800, i.e., born between 1756-1774. They may be the brothers or close relatives of my Rosanna ROE, born 1764.
Here are the counts from the 1800 census:
Joshua Row 00010.40010
Basell Row 21010.30010
Cornelius Mosher 13001.11010
Samuel Row 00010.30010
John Row 20010.20010
Nathan Row 00010.00000
1810 – Cornelius and Rosanna are enumerated in Kortright, Delaware Co., New York. There are no Roe/Row/Rowe families enumerated near the Mosher household.
1820 – Cornelius and Rosanna are enumerated in Columbia Twp., Bradford Co., Pennsylvania.
I have found listing for Nathan Roe and Timothy Roe in the records of Columbia Township but I have not been able to connect them to my Rosanna. There are Roe families that settled in nearby Tioga Co., Pennsylvania that descend from Samuel Roe of Vermont. Samuel’s son, John, had children named Cornelius and Rosanna so maybe there’s a connection.
Any information that might help me identify the parents of Rosanna ROE Mosher (1764-1848) would be much appreciated.
