My great-great grandfather was a George Rowbottom who lived in Liverpool and emigrated to New Zealand in the mid to late 1800s. He was in the British Army 80th Regiment and came to New Zealand as part of the first military/police force. He was one of 12 children (or he had 12 children, i'm not sure which). Two of his daughters were named Kate and Esther. Maybe there is a conection to your family.
